Cause of treaty Nawab
Shuja-Udd-Daula agreed to have British resident station in Awadh, constructed in 1775 AD for Britishers &
their staff which was completed by Sadat-Ali-Khan in 1800 AD .
Many buildings were built over
time according to requirements and which extended till the bank of river Gomti.
Now few building are existing
in the present time.
# Baillie

Treasury house as the name, was built for exchange Department but in 1857 a
central part of the building was converted into ordinary factory .

Dr. Fayrer house in front of the treasury house was specially built for the
surgeon of the residency , who served Britishers till his last breath.

Banquet hall, it was the two storey building built by Saadat-Ali-Khan in European architecture and was decorated
from precious European furniture and Chinese show pieces . many parties were
thrown on the time of Naseer-Udd-Deen
Haider. During 1857 it was used as a Hospital.

Main building, it was two storey building with
big room and beautiful verandah and portico. There is still a big under ground
place but now they are locked.

Museum half area of the main building
has been converted into museum, consist the model of
the Residency who shows how was the Residency looking in its time , here
also many other designs are to present a visual accounts of the freedom
struggle of 1857, old photographs, Sword lithographs and painting documents are to be shown in
undergrounds Weapons, Canon rounds, guns,
coins and many things are preserved but now the underground’s portion has been closed
cause of some reasons.

, here are graveyard of those Britishers who were killed by Indian revolutionaries in 1857, if you have a soft
corner, then may be during visit cemetery you became emotional cause there are
also some graves of that innocence little child who were 1 or 2 years old.

In Awadhi architecture differ from all other buildings Begum Kothi, it was
built by Naseer-udd-din Haider for her European wife and Begum’s Step sister
was built the imam bara and the Mosque.
